The other day I was in Waterstones and I saw a new cover for The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. I was like, "oo! I must get this edition for my collection."
So I grabbed it off the shelf to discover it was like 1/3 of the book. The publishers chopped the story and are selling it seperately to make more money! Jeez. Talk about greedy. I put the book back on the shelf and didn't buy it.
And that brings me to my books. Sometimes when I write short stories I'll publish them individually on Amazon, but then I gather enough stories I've written to create a one-book collection. So I publish them all together in one book, then I unpublish the stories individually.
I'd never split up my novels. I even amalgamate my stories!
The only story I've left published on its own is Jingleballs, but it's only available individually at Christmas time. For festive reasons, of course. I usually re-cover it yearly, because it's fun. And here's the newest cover for 2019.
I'm really sorry to mention Christmas stuff while it's still August, but when it comes to books things have to be done well in advance!
